Site Survey Tip #1

Performing site surveys can sometimes be a long and repetitive task. I have been thinking of putting some tips/jokes together to help other WLAN pros make it more interesting!

Tip #1 – Entering in Someone's Office

Usually, when you enter in someone's office, the conversation will go as follow: – Me: "Hi, I'm here to perform a Wi-Fi analysis. Is it ok with you if I come in your office for a few seconds?" – Office Occupant: "No problem, come on in!"

And then I step in and do my work. Sometimes the conversation continues with the occupant, sometimes it doesn't!

But now, here is a joke I hear a lot as a reply to my initial question: – Me: "Hi, I'm here to perform a Wi-Fi analysis. Is it ok with you if I come in your office for a few seconds?" – Office Occupant: "No problem, come on in! It will be $5"

I was usually replying with a laugh and entering the office anyway to do my job. But lately I have found a new way to answer this joke in order to bring a little bit more fun to the task ;)! This is how it goes: – Me: "Hi, I'm here to perform a Wi-Fi analysis. Is it ok with you if I come in your office for a few seconds?" – Office Occupant: "No problem, come in! It will be $5" – Me: "Do you want good Wi-Fi in your office?" – Office Occupant: 'Sure I do" – Me: "Well, in this case I'll take the $5 :)"

And now I'm collecting 😉

Enjoy your surveys guys (the "guys" includes girls, obviously!)

And look out for Tip #2.

Tell us your problem

Running into this on your own network?

Describe the environment and the requirements. We will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit and what our approach would be.
